Which downtown restaurant?

Which downtown restaurant?

Unlike many in this group I don't frequent downtown. Alas, I'm determined
to get *something* of value out of the ACG book I bought and am going to use
a twofer this weekend.

Your reviews of the following restaurants appreciated:

Ranch Steakhouse - Binions
Roberta's - El Cortez
Magnolias - 4 Queens

Not downtown but Casa Nicola and T.J's Steakhouse, both at the Hilton, also
caught my attention.

Thanks,
Duane

Note that the El Cortez and Binion coupons are valid Sunday thru
Thursday.

Magnolia's is a coffee shop, not up to the quality of the other two.

I haven't tried Binion's, but you can't go wrong at Roberta's. It's a
nice restaurant without being snooty. Good food at reasonable prices.
The coupon is good for half off up to a $50 tab.

While you're at the El Cortez, also use the $10 free slotplay coupon;
play thru the $10 once and then you can cash out whatever you've won.

Many from this group can (and will) testify about Robertas. You may
also want to consider Andre's, however, there may not be a coupon for
it.

I checked the menus of the 2 eateries at the LV Hilton that have ACG
coupons and even with the coupons both are overpriced. I would stick
with either Roberta's or Binion's.

I cannot vouch for the other restaurants, but I will say that
Roberta's is excellent. Great salads, perfect steaks, good wines and
impeccable service. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed. Hell,
even the butter was good. If you have a coupon it would be even
better.

I, too, will vouch for Roberta's. Very good food in a nice dining room.

Magnolia's is a coffee shop, albeit fancier than many I've seen. You go
there for a fried chicken dinner or breakfast. By the way, they've got a
pretty good eggs benedict.

I agree. Roberta's is so good I'd eat there even if I had to (gasp!)
pay for it myself.

You are welcome... it was a great time.

I used to ear at Roberta's all the time when I would go to Vegas years ago.
Jackie Gaughn also had the same menu at the Center Stage in the Union Plaza
so no matter which end of Freemont street I stayed, there was a good
restaurant.

The only thing that has changed is that they used to have these little
silver trays full of celery sticks and radishes that they would put on the
table with the rolls. Oh... and the rolls now are MUCH better than they
plain "white-bread" rolls that they used to have.

For a sure thing it's Roberta's.
Ranch House was great, then mediocre, then awful. Recent reports have
suggested it may be good again.
Magnolias is nothing special

Magnolias-Good coffee shop. Don't bother with the prime rib special,
though.
Binion's Ranch-As Donkeydode noted, its quality has been all over the
board in recent years, but as of two weeks ago, it was very good, well
worth going to, especially with the ACG coupon. If you like lobster,
get something with a lobster tail, its huge! The restaraunt is on the
top floor, with floor to cieling windows. Get a reservation for half
an hour before sunset, and watch the lights come on.
I can't comment on Roberta's as I've never been there.

If I had to choose, I'd go with Binion's, too. Roberta's nice and all,
but the food at Binion's is a bit more interesting. I've eaten at
Roberta's twice and never at Binion's, and you should remember what
donkeydode said about the variability of Binion's quality. Still, I'd
go with Binion's.
