Control system help

My ice machine is dead. Its an Ice-O-Matic 500lb series. It started
losing efficiency and dropping less than full sheets of ice and then
died altogether. I called a reefer company I use and they replaced the
expansion valve. Didn't help. Then he pulled the evap coil which has
the coils soldered to the back which had pulled loose. They thought it
would be more to repair than it was worth. I pulled the evap coil and
placed styrofoam between the coils and the back plate and it froze
right up. But it won't go into harvest. I can manually turn the
harvest motor and get the hot gas solenoid to trip and release the ice
which also involves moving the harvest plunger out through the grid.
Everything seems to operate but it won't trigger. I replaced the
timer. Any suggestions from experienced ice machine owners/tinkerers?
I have a schematic, but it doesn't 'splain the sequencing which I
think involves head pressure to trigger the harvest timer.

Re: Control system help

You should adjust the volumetric pump to the factory designated head
pressure, change the group interface assembly, and install a Texan PID
kit. Then curse at it and belittle it LOL. Threatening it in front of
a national audience might work too.
Oh, wait.....Never mind....al

Re: Control system help

I think I figured it out. The machine has to reach a certain head
pressure to initiate the bridge timer to initiate the hot gas valve to
initiate the purge cycle to initiate the harvest cycle. I set the
"timer initiate control" setpoint higher and it seems to coming into
sync. Sort of like getting an old Jag started and then trying to sync
all 6 carbs.
