Quick Review: Camacho SLR Rothschild Maduro

Reply from: Mickey
Date: 22 Apr, 05:32
Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf
Binder: Honduras
Filler: Honduras

This was a little stronger than I'm used to, but it was not a bad
smoke. It burned perfectly all the way down, and produced huge clouds
of smoke. Construction seemed to be top notch.

The flavor was earthy, and pretty much remained consistent all the way
through. There was a slight sweetness to it, probably due to the
maduro wrapper leaf. The profile wasn't very complex, but it was
complex enough to hold my attention for the hour-plus it took to smoke
it.

Thanks, Tom, for a chance to try one of these guys!

Thanks for the review. (left unsnipped just for Paul!)

Thanks Mickey for the great review. The Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper
is a bit gnarly and rough but imparts a complex flavor. Henry Clays
used this wrapper quite often.

The Camacho SLR wrapper is smooth as glass, a lot smoother than a Brazilian
or Costa Rican wrapper.

I imagine it's mostly a matter of how the producer processes the wrapper
leaf before "installing" it.
