Post Subject:

Anglo-Danish wars restart

Reply from: Padre

On April 2nd 1801 the British fleet led by admiral Nelson attacked the
city of Copenhagen and after a long battle made away with the Danish
fleet.

Payback, presumably, from the year 1016 when the Danish king Knud the
Great conquered half of England and paid his fleet 82,000 pounds of
silver, 10,000 pounds from the city of London alone.

Since 1811 however, Denmark and England have not been at war.
Unfortunately that has changed, as an English air raid has just
flattened a small house on the outskirts of Copenhagen.

The situation is even graver than one might think, as Cuban munitions
have been used and the Danish government now fears an Anglo-Cuban plan
to take over the world market for aged snaps, pickled herring and
butter cookies.

Hey, you started it!

BTW, you forgot our cunning and dastardly plan to steal your liquorice
mines, your bacon mountains and your beer breweries!

You're very welcome, and I do hope you enjoy them. The robustos are good to
go right now, and the coronas are good now but will improve with age.

Yes, and I am ill-equipped to end it :-(

Liquorice mines ???

hehehe

As for the beer and the bacon, help yourself, it's not very good :-)

They are getting comfy in the humidor - I think I'll invite Jan to
help me smoke them. It should be possible to spend the evening in the
front yard in a couple of weeks, and some brandy will help.

btw if you remember asking about aged snaps, I went to that liquor
store, I linked to - seems they have plenty of aged snaps.

Carlsberg Elefant "not very good"?
That's about as diplomatic as a Mohammed caricature!

That's a difficult beer. If you walk into a hot bar room on an ice
cold, windy, dark winter night, it tastes just fine. At any other time
it's, well, less agreeable.
