Here in the USA, too. Apparently, our government pays people a rather
hefty sum to not raise pigs.

Now, being new to the not-raising pigs business, I figured I could start
small, and maybe just not-raise 2 or 3 pigs at first. But, as I learn
the ropes, I figure I could be up to not-raising half a dozen pigs or so
by the end of the first year. Now, of course, wanting to have SOMEthing
to leave for my children, and maybe a small bit for myself to enjoy
during my retirement, I'd like to add to my non-herd and try to be
not-raising 80-100 pigs after 5 years.

If I save my subsidies and invest wisely, I might be able to afford a
little extra patch of land and, perhaps by the end of 12-15 years (these
things are always difficult to predict, so far out), I could be
not-raising 500 or so pigs.

My original plan -- when I was younger -- then had me expanding to
not-raising 1000s of pigs by my 40s. Now, as I am older, wiser and see
that my needs are more modest than originally anticipated, I figure I
can stop with the 500 not-raised pigs subsidy, and allow others some
room to start their now not-a-pig-farm.

I've just got a teeny bit more paperwork to do, and I'll be well on my
way to not raising pigs.

tobacco that I'm not-growing..."

I believe there's some Dept of Agriculture program for that.

The subsidy guidelines weren't exactly clear but, I suppose, if they
refuse to pay, I may have to raise a few, then send them marching...

Tom, I don't now if you're over the hill yet but Sikorsky is hiring.

Oh, no. Of course not. Being a good law abiding citizen I immediately
sent them down the garbage disposal and forwarded the bomber's home
address on to the proper authorities.
