Dunhill Advertising Jars Info? Anyone?

Hello All,

I'm trying without much success to gather information about the large
Dunhill advertsing jars that were prominent in better tobacco shops in
the 80's and 90's.There were three models made being Nightcap,My
Mixture and Early Morning Pipe. All I've been able to learn is that
they were sent as gifts by Dunhill to shops that sold a decent amount
of their tobacco. To date I've seen and own several variations of each
jar....

Does anyone have any information about them? When were they made? Who
made them? Were they made in the UK or America? If anyone knows of an
online resourse about them PLEASE send it along?...

I'm also interested in any information about the Dunhill My Mixture
stamped smoker's accessories that were marketed by Tinderbox in the
1980's. As far as I know there was a pipe ashtray, two smokers candles
which resembled the store jars and two match strikers/holders in the
series. These come up for sale on e-bay occasionally.Does anyone know
where these were made and how long they were sold by Tinderbox? Where
they sold anywhere else?...

Best,
D.J.

I have the candles and match holder they have small oval stickers with
Made In Japan on them. I also have the smaller 100th anniversary jar
(Dunhill is in the BAT script) that is unmarked as to where it's made
and a very unique (block letter) large jar that is also unmarked.

The 965 Jar was the first one and it was given free to any tobacconist
that ordered the recently introduced bulk 965. It was a selling aid.
The EMP jar came about a year later.
I first saw the jar at Joe Nastri's shop and tried to buy it. He said
he couldn't sell it to mebut that he'd try and get me one. I'd
completely forgotten about what I considered an empty promise when 6
months later a package arrived at my home. It contained the jar.
Overwhelmed by his thoughtfullness, I called Joe and tried to pay him
for it but he insisted it was a gift. That's the kind of a great guy
Joe Nastri was. One of the finest I've ever known.
