Spilman Mixture:This is not a review

Spilman Mixture:This is not a review

Last month at our pipe club meeting, The North Oakland Tobacco and
Pipe Club, one of our distinguished members brought in a can of
Spilman Mixture. Since I had never smoked the blend I filled one of
my Castellos (what else?). The Spilman had a strange taste, almost
minty. The friend who brought the tobacco asked me what I thought of
it. I too quickly responded by saying I didn't like it without giving
an explanation. He probably thought, "well I won't offer him tobacco
again." Then a couple of weeks ago I read the review of Spilman's in P
+T magazine. I ordered a can ( 7 ounces for $23). I promptly filled
a Castello (what else?) with the Spilman's. I thought, "wow, this is
great." I smoked several bowls of SM (sado masicistic). I
experienced that strange minty taste again. It wouldn't go away. I
tried several other tobaccos in various Castellos (what else?), but
that taste was locked into my memory. It took a couple of days before
it was finally gone. My plan is to take the Spilman's to the next
pipe club meeting and offer it to my friends. Anybody else tried
Spilman's?

It's on my "try when I get around to it" list.

I'm trying to figure out what your favorite brand of pipe is.

I'm still trying to think of a funny way to point out, um, something
funny in the original post. Someone at a pipe club comes up with a can
of Spilman's, for everyone to try. The OP buys a can, loathes it, and
takes it to a pipe club for everyone to try. The best I can put it is,
it's like Johnny Carson's old joke about there only being one
fruitcake in the whole world. It just gets passed around every
Christmas. :-)

Hope all are well,
Ian

Thanks,Ian, for capturing my thought...

Spilman's is not on my "try it' list.

A surprisingly hard thought to capture, and in doing so I've
threadjacked (again!) Oh well. It looks like the original question
finally got answered. :-)

Sorry, I was away from the computer watching another movie from
Netflix. Ok, let me give you a hint: an old time comedy team, Bud
Abbott and Lou ...... Ok, if you break your arm it will be encased
in a hard material and called a ...... then add the color of a canary
is....... Now if you still haven't got it I give up, smoking a
Castello bent apple with Peretti's British blend. Good night .
