I love photography of people from the golden age. It was a simpler time
but the people always strike me as being very complex. What is the lady
in the background thinking? The patch on the gentleman's right pants
knee. What's in the pot on the table? What's in his pipe, for that
matter. I love pondering these things. It's a really good photo, IMHO,
thanks for sharing.

The photo reminds me of Dorothea Lange's work from the great
depression of the 30's. I don't think it is one of hers, but the
style is unmistable. It's a wonderful photo no matter who did it.

They look like models to me, not bean pickers.

I had the same thoughts. I'm not even sure it's a candid picture. The
couple look too healthy and just too damn pretty to be bean pickers. I
wonder if it's a still from an old movie about bean pickers.

FWIW, pixdaus has thousands of pictures, many of which evoke strong
feelings. There are some, like this one, of people and times past,
there are many of lonely, forgotten places, deserted castles,
monasteries, wrecked ships, exotic small towns all over the world,
etc. There's the usual assortment of cute animal pix, beautiful girls,
sunsets, landscapes, etc.

Unfortunately, it doesn't have a very efficient search capability, so
it's hard to find your way back to a particular shot unless you
bookmark it.

It's a great time sucker.

Thanks for reviving a long-lost thread. More pipe sightings, people!

But where are the beans? ;-)
