Calabash

What is the best way to clean a calabash ? I just baught one off E-
Bay . It was fairly gross . I filled the gourd with sea salt and
whisky ( after removing the bowl ) . Scrubed it out and let it set for
2 days . It still has a bit of a stale taste to it . Any
sudgestions ???

I know that Gary Schrier of the Seattle Pipe Club and author of The
History of the Calabash Pipe could definitely help out on this.

This is the contact page for the club. You can email a question about
this there and I'm sure you'll get a response.
