EverClear Solves Peterson Pipe Problem

Greetings ASP. I wrote the other day that I was going to ream my
Peterson Silver Spigot down to the wood and EverClear it. APipeGuy
wroate me an email advising against going to the wood, but just
EverClearing the pipe. Well, I went against his advice and raemed it
down and EverCleared it a few days ago. This morning I started to
break it in and everything seemed copacetic. But I smoked another
bowl in the afternoon, and I got a bad taste in my mouth. I put away
the Peterson and lit up my Ruthenberg Ring Blast. It had the same
horrible taste. So I decided the taste was in my mouth. I brushed my
teeth and my tongue, but no dice, the taste hung on like a leech. I
decided that I had smoked some of the stain that Peterson kindly
leaves in its chambers for us to appreciate. I had uncovered this
surface when I, against apipeguys advice, reamed off the cake. So how
was I gonna get this stain off my tongue? The answer blazed into my
brain--EverClear! So I poured out a shot and sipped it down. Little by
little the taste went away and to my surprise so did the whole
Peterson pipe problem.

My Standard Procedure for a Pete is to sandpaper the bowl until it's
just briar, then a cotton-ball or two with iso. Let it sit two days.
Then break it in.

It will be awesome thereafter.

Umm... just an observation from personal experience, but a shot of
everclear could wipe the flavor of just about anything from the mouth.
I mean anything (shudders).

Everclear and Hawaiian Punch, a hi-test staple of my misspent youth.
The hangovers were awful.

Back in my fraternity days, we mixed large batches of 'punch' in plastic
garbage cans for our weekly mixers. A couple of fifths of Everclear
along with a dozen or so cans of fruit punch and we were set to go. The
stuff was so smooth and sweet that no one could taste the alcohol. On
mornings following such affairs there would always be six or seven girls
passed out on our lawn - a sure sign of a great party! ;-)

Warning: Kids, don't try this at home!

Re: EverClear Solves Peterson Pipe Problem

Life is too friggin short and there are too many good pipe makers that don't
stain everything to go through this crap. After my last Peterson stain
incident and until they quit staining everything, no more Petersons.
