OT: Father & Son Saturday Afternoon

As some of you guys and gals play guitar and have read some of my
posts about my son and his guitars I thought I'd pass this on since
"he's" on a website. No real big thing, he's just a kid and still a
student but of course I think it's kind'a cool. <G>

Last weekend I took my 14 year old son Blane to Eufaula, OK for a
guitar clinic held by Selby Minner. You can see his new black and
silver graphic Ibanez RG series guitar. (this is guitar #6 with 3
amps)

He's wearing the Rolling Stones T shirt playing rhythm jamming with
Selby. I'm in the background wearing a black T while sipping coffee.

We didn't go to the Blues concert that night, we got soaked when we
went out for lunch but still, we had a ball.

Ron Ward,
just another proud Pop.

Really cool, Ron! I enjoyed the tune a lot. Selby's really good.
Your son looked like he was havin' a ball. Good stuff.

Howdy, Col., Buck & ASP. Just checking in for a minute while borrowing
my daughters computer. I agree, she is very good and a nice lady. BTW,
she does have CDs for sale by her and her late husband. Selby lost her
husband D.C. Minner 3 or 4 months ago. He had been bedridden for quite
some time, bad enough to lay down his guitar for about 2 years or
longer. FYI, D.C. was an Army medic during the Korean Conflict. Since
losing D.C. Selby is now starting her solo career. Selby was a bass
player until D.C. became to ill then she took over playing lead and
their friend Tiki took over playing bass at The Down Home Blues Club
in Rentiesville, OK. She's now busy planning the Dusk Till Dawn Blues
Festival (#18) Labor Day weekend, Fri.-Sunday on 3 stages as a tribute
to D.C. (35 bands from 10 states!) http :// www .dcminnerblues,com /default.htm
I hope to be able to attend this year.

Selby has also been giving free guitar lessons at the Eufaula Library
for some time and should soon be receiving a grant that will help buy
guitars for the students that can't afford them. She opens the club
every second and forth weekend afternoon for students such as my son
for jam sessions. We haven't made it down yet but hope sometime to
load up the car full of insterments, amps and the boys Blane jams with
in their little garage band and make the drive.

On another note, my newish next door neighbor is a retired musician
and a 101 Airborne Viet-Nam Vet and he has given my son what was left
of his sound equipment. Mr. Parker knew that he is serious about music
and could one day need the speakers when he needed a PA. He was afraid
they were going to ruin sitting in storage and besides he needed the
space. Blane got two big Peavey SP 2 speakers with stands and two
Kustom 2 W speakers that he used as stage monitors back in the day. He
believes he bought these about 35 years ago and they have the original
Black Widow speakers and the cabs have never been opened. I guess I'll
be shopping for some kind of power head and mics sometime soon.
Another thing that's landed in my lap that I don't know a thing about,
yet. LOL!

Ron Ward, soon to be smoking Mac Baren Golden Slices (I think) in a
bent SMS meer to celebrate that it's raining here in Ft. Smith,
Arkansas! (Just hope it's raining at home in Pocola, OK.)

That was excellent Ron! I used to have a Gibson like the lady was
playing. My brother bought it back from the guy I sold it to. He could
not stand it leaving the family. Blane does very well.
