Update on ASP Zippos

Update on ASP Zippos

No changes to the numbers for Round 2 of the 2008 ASP Zippos. We're
still at:

> Einsteins - 4
> Traditional Brass - 7
> Traditional Chrome - 9

However, with the help of our good friends Mr. Bill Burney, Mark McClure
and a couple of other ASPers, I've come up with a possible new regimen
for next year's Zippos. As you all know, I've been trying to find a
means to make the ordering work better for us given the ridiculous
changes Zippo made in the ordering process. Here's the thought:

1. Cut back to one lighter.
2. Place the Traditional ASP logo on the back surface of each lighter.
3. Start the Design Contest for the lighters on January 1 of each year.
4. With the Design Contest winning entry placed on the front of
each lighter, eliminate the necessity of including the
Traditional ASP Logo in the annual Design, but mandate that the
year be included in the Design.
5. Run the Design contest for however long Bill Burney feels is
appropriate, then after membership voting determines the winner, take
orders for the rest of that year until the end of October.

This whole idea will really simplify things and should make a lot more
sense. It'll eliminate multiple annual rounds of orders, overlapping
orders and all of the other nonsense that has complicated the process in
the last year or so. It will also put a definitive date marking on the
ASP pipe lighters for serious collectors, eliminating the confusion
caused by Zippo's policy of using out of date cases for the lighters.

Yup, there are a lot of things that are objectionable about the idea, so
go ahead and chip in. I look forward to your input.

Best to all,
Bert

It all sounds reasonable, based on Zippo's ordering requirements. Do
we want the ASP logo full sized on the back? Perhaps a smaller
version off to one corner? Just a reminder about etching rather than
the stamping, or whatever it's called. Thanks Bert, Bill, and Mark!

That sounds good to me, Bert.
I just want a lighter and I like them all.
