The five sensesWhat are the five senses? They are: taste, sight, hearing, smell, and
touch. We need all five of those senses in order to be fully aware of
the world around us.
Those of you who still smoker will never understand, but you have
sacrificed two of you five senses; taste and smell by smoking. Smoking
damages the ability to smell and taste.
Here's one of many links that educate people on smoking's risks ...

As a result of their degraded sense of taste and smell, smokers can't
appreciate the qualities of such things as a nice glass of wine, the
flavor of nicely cooked fish, the aroma of a bouquet of flowers, and the
subtle flavors of some cheeses. Ironically, you cigar and pipe smokers
can't even smell the aroma of your own tobacco before it is burned to
ashes.
You smokers sure give up a lot of your awareness of the would around
you, just to satisfy your nicotine addiction. You don't need to believe
me; just as anyone who has quit smoking and they will tell you how much
better they can taste and smell.
This is yet one more reason to quit smoking.
