McCain jokes about 'killing' Iranians by getting them addicted to smoking.»
Last year, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) joked about bombing Iran to the theme of
the Beach Boy's "Barbara Ann." McCain was widely criticized for the remark,
but simply told critics to "lighten up and get a life." The Washington Post
notes that McCain tried joking about "killing" Iranians again today:

Responding to a question about a survey that shows increased exports to
Iran, mainly from cigarettes, McCain said, "Maybe thats a way of killing
them." He quickly caught himself, saying "I meant that as a joke" as his
wife, Cindy, poked him in the back.

According to a report released today, U.S. exports to Iran "grew more than
tenfold during President Bush's years in office even as he accused Iran of
nuclear ambitions and helping terrorists. America sent more cigarettes to
Iran, at least $158 million worth under Bush, than any other products."

How old are you? This was a popular song about 30 years ago (give or
take a year).

I guess you don't remember the whole Iran hostage crisis and I also
guess you don't think that a country which threatens to wipe another
country off the face of the earth is a threat.

If anything, McCain is being too nice.

Oh, boo-hoo - maybe you'd prefer we come begging on our hands and knees
like Obama has said he would like to do.

You should seriously consider that.

You want the US government to tyrranize people you dislike -- smokers -- and respect the
autonomy of people you like.

You're a hypocrite. If you opposed tyranny, you'd oppose smoking bans.

That's a false dichotomy, from the deluded mind of a tobacco-sucking addict.

Exactly. Asking smokers to confine their smoking to outdoor areas and
their homes is hardly an act of tyranny any more than it is to ask a
person with a cold to stay home.
