They're taking away my FREEEEEEEDOMS!!!

BEIJING (Reuters) - Beijing has asked hotels and restaurants in the
city to take dog meat off the menu for the duration of next month's
Olympics and September's Paralympics.

Now, if we could find a way to remove bullshit and horseshit from
newsgroups, you and your whack-job panty-nannies would be history(and
a rather sordid aspect of history, at that.) Silly clown.

What's your point?

Are you trying to say that it's okay to do this?

China has a long history of human rights abuses and this only adds to
the list.

While I find the idea of people eating dog meat abhorrent, it is
apparently not uncommon in China. Why should they be forced to change
their eating habits because the government suddenly wants to save face
with the rest of the world on such a non-issue?

I'm much more concerned with China's suppression of free speech than I
am about the fact that some of them eat dog. (Tianemen Square anyone?)

Aren't you?

You must NOT be since you brought this subject up instead of that.

What the FUCK does this have to do with smoking anyway?

Is there such a thing as "Second Hand dog-meat eating"? (I wouldn't be
surpised if you answered yes).

many people in the USA keep fish and yet fish tastes very good. Nobody
(except maybe PETA) says "oh no, you're eating your goldfish's sister!!!
- How inhumane!).

And only extremists like PETA or ELF or ALF complain about the fact that
I'm eating Elsie the cow's brother when I grill a nice ribeye on my grill.

Go fuck yourself and stay out of everyone else's business.

And BTW keep the slaughter of horses for human consumption legal. There
are starving peopel in France!!! You and I may not want to eat Trigger
or Fido, but who are we to dictate the cultural norms of other cultures?

Certainly not. It should be up to the proprietor if he wants to serve dog.

That would be "serve dog" not "serve dogs."

Lloyd Bochner. Twilight Zone.

Since when are dogs human?

They shouldn't. If you don't like it, don't go there.

If it weren't for the smoke, you could fix in complete peace.
Actually, you already can. Try the e-cigarette. Use the drug
that does nothing but cause you to take more. Use it a lot.

Never eaten a goldfish. Seems like with all that ammonia,
they wouldn't taste very good.

Reminds me of a story that begins 'Man walks into a restaurant and asks "Do you serve
crabs?"'

They aren't but some humans are dog-like, pig-like and even sheep-like.

China has HUGE problems that are hidden from the outside world. Every year there are
80,000 riots and protests. The outside world heard about ONE, at Tiananmen Square in 1989.

As a result of that protest, dozens of party officials and army officers were imprisoned.
The man who famously stood in front of the tanks was probably executed.
* en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tank_Man

China executes 8,000 people per year, which is 20 times the rest of the world combined.
People are killed for embezzling money.

Cyprinids are one of the most important food fishes in Asia. Did you ever eat a

Actually, in my experience, the vast majority of dogs surpass humans in
terms of loyalty and compassion, but that's irrelevant.

The abuses come from limiting the proprietor of a restaurant from
serving the kind of food that is demanded by the market.

It's not surprising that you couldn't grasp this concept.

I don't disagree that there are many problems in China, but Asians do
tend to be drama queens (much like aunties). Witness the beef protests
in SK a month or 2 ago for a perfect example.

Oooh - a wiki cite. How can I ever possibly argue against that?

And why would I?

I'm not the one claiming that China is all good.

Of course, their population is quite large. I don't doubt that there

The drug dealer defense. 'Your Honor, I don't like drugs any more than you do. I'm just
giving the marketplace what it demands. If I don't, someone else will. Don't blame me,
blame the end users.'

The dog butcher defense goes the same way.

China is the world's next empire, after the US folds. It has groupthink on a scale that
American corporations and government can only dream about.

A Chinese work colleague, who knows Chinese law, told me punishment is based on the amount
stolen. Over 100,000 USD gets the death penalty.

It's not about cuteness, it's about murder. Your hamburger is muscle tissue of a murdered
animal. If you bought it at a fast food place, it was prepared by minimum wage cretins
with two digit IQs.

Bon apetit.

Why blame anyone?

If they're not killing MY dog or YOUR dog - or anyone else's pet without
their consent, let them do it.

Same thing with Trigger.

As far as drugs go? No one is getting killed by simply using them -
what's the big deal?

You want to make some cannabis brownies? Some coca leaf tea? Some some
opium? Use tobacco?

Who are you (or the gov't) to tell someone they shouldn't be allowed to
do this?

you're supposed to come up with something MORE credible - not something

Oh noes - my dinner was "murdered" - it would be interesting if you
added up all the protein I've eaten and translated it into what you call
"murders".

By your standards, most humans are mass murderers on an unprecedented
scale - why just this week, I'll guesstimate I "murdered" 70 animals.

But I luvs my eggs and bacon and steak and salmon - are you next on the
menu? Your line of thinking actually brings the question to mind.

Is your life worth the same as an unfertilized chiken egg?

Meat isn't the only source of protein. A peanut butter sandwich contains more than a day's
supply; a dish of cottage cheese contains half your daily requirement, five slices of
bread contain all you need.

>By your standards, most humans are mass murderers on an unprecedented

2,800 animals in a 75-year lifetime -- 2,630 chickens and ducks, 123 turkeys, 32 pigs, 13
cattle, and 2 sheep. USDA doesn't keep statistics on seafood.

I wonder if there will be mass demonstrations
over the ban on dog meat in restaurants during the Olympics?

Which, do you suppose is more addictive, dog or nicotine?

Were radon and transfats as addictive as nicotine, you could
be sure there would be snarling and howling. But they aren't.
We just get rid of them.
