For laws to be passed needs consensus. Your views are extreme and you are in
a minority, cretin.

So one or two places in the world have banned public smoking outside. It's
hardly the norm, and nor will it become the norm.

The unfortunate truth is: most people are far more reasonable than you.

I think this is because you are a bitchy, whiny, sad little fuck.

That's right. And people said it was unconstitutional, that
it would be soon repealed, that they would bring it to a
referendum and it would be voted out.

Didn't happen.

Before restaurant and bar bans, there was another different
kettle of fish. There were smoking bans in the workplace
and on airliners.

And before that smoking was banned in elevators, movie
theaters, and gas stations.

>>>hardly the norm, and nor will it become the norm.

I remember a time you could smoke on a flight when the
no smoking sign was extinguished. Those signs are no longer
part of the aircraft. Now it's the norm.

Would you have claimed smokefree restaurants would not become
the norm 10 years ago?

The beautiful thing about it is, many are going smoke free in areas
that do not have a government-imposed smoking ban. It wouldn't
surprise me to see 90% to 99% of businesses utilizing a smoking ban on
their own, without the government telling them to do so.

You know what's funny, though? The last time I was on a plane (about a
month ago), it had a no-smoking light. And every plane I've ever been
on has had a no-smoking light.

You've been flying on some pretty old aircraft.

On my last trip (a month ago), I rode in an MD-80 going up and a 737-800
coming back.

Pretty old aircraft?

That's what happens. Restaurants and office buildings go smokefree
and then, much later, the city council makes it official. In a few
cases the law is totally unnecessary, there were no longer any
smoking businesses.

Consensus favors indoor public smoking bans in far more then just "one
or two places." In the United States, approximately half the population
lives in an area where indoor public smoking has been banned. Outside
the United States, far more then "one or two" countries have banned
smoking. In none of the jurisdictions where indoor public smoking has
been banned has there been an uprising against the ban.

Most people feel that what's reasonable is for nicotine addicts to
spread their noxious tobacco spew in the private and to stop harming
others with it.

Note, I'm referring to smoking OUTDOORS in public, and being considerate
about it.

I agree with a ban on indoor smoking in public.

Somehow, I think this " Prof. Jonez " was once a smoker. IIRC, it
has been proven ex-smokers are worse than those who have never smoked
a day in their lives. The reason for this is simple, they are still
craving a cigarette. Maybe this " Prof. Jonez " and the trolls like
him in this thread are still craving a cigarette whenever they are
around tobacco smoke. ;-)

Once again your "thinking" is wrong.

Once again your "recollection" is wrong, no surprise.

SHREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!

(Doppler effect)

You know, I'm ever so glad that stopping everybody from smoking is going
to solve all our problems, wars will end, disease will vanish, the
homeless will live in gold leaf cardboard boxes...

We should devote billions, nay trillions, of public monies to the effort
as Paradise is right around the corner!

(Down there, past those evil smokers)
