The vast majority of people who smoke do so because of an addiction.
Generally, the more they are addicted, the less they like their own
habit. Yes, it's a stupid cycle. Much like your addiction
(technically habituation, and thus less excusable) to calling people
stupid on usenet. So long as they are not shoving secondary smoke
into people's faces, then who fucking cares? Really.
And just because someone is addicted to some substance does not mean
they are inherently stupid. What are you? a moron?
And before you start up with stupid name calling again, I'm not a
smoker. Never have been, never will be. I'm one of those borderline
asthmatics who holds their breath when anywhere near someone smoking
to avoid coughing fits. Tobacco pisses me off no end. But smokers
are the victims, and I've met too many people to think I can pidgeon
hole someone's intelligence based on whether they smoke or not.
Have you ever had a cigarette? Just to see? Because for a big slice
of humanity, that one cigarette is all it takes to change their brain
chemistry and create a physical biochemical dependence. People
younger than 25ish probably don't have the "I didn't know" excuse, but
young people do stupid things without being stupid.

You can't, as doing so would be violating your *own* claimed code - "not
harming others" - and thus driving such a vehicle for any purpose at all
would make you a hypocrite. Now if you want to do this with your fuel-
cell vehicle (which we'll assume is recharged via solar energy) I'm
perfectly happy to breathe in the exhaust from that.

So which is it? Are you just a prick, or are you a prick _and_ a

Statistics are the crux of these arguments.

Nobody can prove that any particular death even from lung cancer was
caused by passive or direct smoking even if the deceased smoked 100 a
day.

What one can do is show statistical associations sometimes very stark.
Everyone is entitled to draw conclusions and one should not be too
surprised if the conclusions drawn by most are the obvious ones.
