Modes / Easier To See mvm

Modes / Easier To See mvm

For simplicities sake, I used the Key of 'F' and
start at the first position.

It's the same in every key.

Also, I've used grids to make it easier on the eye!

Enjoy. :-) mvm

|---|---|15-|---|15-|18-|
F IONIAN (MAJOR) form

...and on to G Dorian again,
starting at the 15th fret.

The above modal forms all work as a treadmill. They link together simply
as follows--

Each of the forms starts on the 'low' E string, the 6th string. Each
winds up on the 'high' E string, the 1st string.

If you look at the bottom of each form, you're looking at the last 3
notes of the mode, played on the 'high' E string, the 1st string.

NOW-

Note that since we begin on an 'E' string and end on an 'E' string,
whatever the order of previous 3 notes you played on a prior modal form,
is the exact same order you start out on w/ the NEXT modal form... !

Ex/

F Ionian (Major scale)..,it ends down on the first string w/ a
"3....5..6"...you then move on to G Dorian (basic minor scale) and start
out on the the scale with a --you guessed it, "3....5..6" up on the 6th
string.

Every form leads to the next just like this. Pretty cool huh?

Here's another simplistic aspect of all of this stuff...

THERE ARE ONLY THE 3 BASIC TYPES OF FINGERING TO LEARN TO GET THIS STYLE
OF MODAL PLAYING, THE MOST MUSICAL SOUNDING AND LOGICALLY FLOWING WAY,
DOWN! THE "DNA".

1.] See the "3....5..6" we just did? I think of that as a

--> 1....3..4 You play it using your index finger, 3rd finger and pinky.

2.] Thre is also the "1..2....4". Using F Ionian as our example (because
this lesson was set using F, 1st position as the starting point), you'll
see that there's a couple of these in the middle of the Ionian (major)
form, on the 3'rd
and 4th strings, same pattern, right on top of eath other-

[Frets]:

2..3....5
2..3....5

You played this little pattern w/ index finger, second finger
and pinky.

3.] Last, there's the "1....3....5"

Again, referring to our F Ionian (major) example, there's a pair of
these babies right on top of each other, kicking off the scale:

[Frets]:

1....3....5
1....3....5

I play this little stretcher with index finger, third finger
and pinky.

Later, it get's real interesting how these basic three patterns are like
the DNA building blocks of everything you do, both vertically (as we're
discussing here)...AND horizontally along each string, between the
bridge and nut!*

Pick up your guitar and walk yourself through the 1st lesson
gingering each of the 7 modal patterns, slowly. This is the
very beginning of learning to play and ultimately, if you want, to
"shred", -with precision!

*
1..3....4

= Whole step and a half step or
A Major 2nd and a minor 2nd.

1..2....4

= Half step and a whole step or
A minor 2nd and a Major 2nd.

1....3....5

= 2 Whole Steps a.k.a.
A Major 3rd

It seems as if he may have figured out what these
mysterious items known as "kill files" are as well.

Yo - :-) mvm - Do you honestly believe it's "normal" for a
legitimate usenet poster to constantly change its identity? If not,
then why do you do it? What's your motivation? Could your constant
shape shifting possibly be a form of cowardice? A fear of no
recognition whatsoever, no matter how negative? Did you know that
"Gamma Ray," besides being a scientific term is the name of a European
band?

I, for one, am most grateful that you invariably offer strong clues,
without exception, in your almost impossibly relentless quantity of
"new" posting identities.

It's just as normal for him as it is to change his *legal* name
(allegedly for security purposes-? ), or to try to fool people into
thinking his Soundclick songs are his original recordings.

Rhetorical Q:
After observing his behavior, do you honestly believe he's normal?
;o)

I don't care to understand why he isn't normal. Since I also don't
care to see his posts, he's in my bozo-bin. Watch him reply to this,
even though he knows I've filtered him. Why? IDGAFF.

mvm needs help. i only thought his comments he uses on his songs read like a
