The "Big 5" :-)

Reply from: Gamma Ray

I know this is ubber simplistic stuff, but it ties into my other
posts re; Modes. If perhaps you know of a beginner, this might
help her or him!

The 7 modal forms basically overlay these 5 -OR- it can be said that
these 5 overlay or fit within the modal forms! It's all a treadmill.

We'll Use the key of Am (G Major) because SO much seems to be played there.

Know this though- you've got to practice in every key. Focus
on just one to get going though, that's normal, because everything at
once can easily overwhelm.

What's cool, is that in this key (because there's room for a full box
back there) box 5 here, could just as easily have been our starting box
back up at the nut...

|-2-|---|---|-5-|---|---|---|
|-2-|---|---|-5-|---|---|---|
|---|-3-|*4-|-5-|---|---|---|

Blues Box 5

See, this stuff treadmills; As in,

Box 5--> Box 1--> Box 2--> Box 3--> Box 4--> Box 5--> Box 1
etc.

When you get more experienced, you'll be able to start out in say,Box 3
and accurately hop to any other box out of linear sequence, bending,
hammering on, pulling off, applying vibrato, expressing yourself w/out
thinking about it...but THAT'S where hours of practice separate the
Vulcans from the ...Klingons?

One last very important note!!!

What I've shown you here, is for 'minor blues' emphasis.

The cool thing about the intersection of Blues and say, Southern Rock,
is that you can switch back and forth between a "MAJOR" feel / sound and
a "Minor" feel / sound in terms of emphasis.

Again, This is all A minor.

To use all of the above using a MAJOR feel sound, all you do is START at
the A note again (5th Fret,6th. fat string) but this time, begin with
Box 2, not box one... !

* Circle: This is the "Albert King" box w/in a box. a whole
lotta bending and expression comes outta here!

Damn, that's advanced shit...last time I checked, Am was C major.

When did that happen? Or maybe it's different on guitar.
At least, on the Lo0nbat Secret Service Ubber Spatial

I thought that maybe you might mention that the controls are
extremely sensitive, making this gadget a little tough to dial in
(worth the hassle though, especially for the high gain folks), how
nice it would be if the modes were foot-switchable, and that it might
possibly be a little overpriced.

But you can't do it, eh. For some reason. Just as I suspected.

Hi Ass! * boston.craigslist.org/nos/msg/667218859.html said pretty
much everything I could say about it, so I didn't feel the urge
to add 3 angels dancing on the head of a pin. At any rate, I use the
EFX loop on a Zoom GFX-8 to either access external distortion or
utilize the distortions it comes with, or I modded, in the Zoom's
software for every patch. Recently, I yanked the GT-500 and the FDII
in deference to the Radial ToneBone Classic Tube Distortion. I already
run through an xoticeffects USA RC Booster up front and overdrives are
killer, but I'm getting just the right sizzle out of the 12ax7 in the
ToneBone.

Thanks for your review FDII slappy, now go fob it off on Harmony Central
or a relative over at nearby at TDCJ, ya buck-toofed, Bush-suckin' piney
woods skeeter mutant. :-).

Let me see...where is that...oh, here it is-

So you really can't do it. For whatever reason. I'd wager that
you've never so much as laid hands on a Fulldrive II, but in case you
have then the reason can only be related to your pathology.

TP :-)

Hi guys,
Im new at this forum. i love it cos its so contraversial. You all
really make me laugh. Anybody who tries to write music notation on a
word processor is really funny. I have a music processor at home, but
i cant be bothered cutting and pasting into the browser. Oh and by the
way, when you hand copy from previously written music txt its really
obvious.
Yours Togs

You just can't catch a break .... if your sticking to the notes in C, then
you can't use Bm9b5. as the 9 is a C#. Of course, in reality you can play
any note you want, but this is theory, right?
