Bad experience alert for Warmoth

Bad experience alert for Warmoth

I know allot of you order through Warmoth and some might in the future so I
wanted to share my ordering experience. I ordered a PU through them
primarily because they were the only one's advertising to have it in stock.
I ordered on a Wednesday and they charged my CC immediately. The following
Monday I cancelled because they still hadn't filled the order and asked them
recredit my card. It's Wednesday and my card still hasn't been refunded.

I don't think it's illegal, but I don't agree with a company charging you
card before they ship. And if they do charge I would think they would ship
within a couple of days at the latest. On the flip side when they need to
do a recredit it takes them days.

I know allot of people use this company, but I'll never order through them
again.

In contrast, I ordered my amp through Sweetwater via internet on Saturday,
got a call confirming my order on Monday and it was shipped on Monday as
well. Credit card not charged until shipped as it should be.

Re: Bad experience alert for Warmoth

That's too bad. I have only ordered from them twice and didn't have a
problem. I hope your experience is not to become a norm. In fact I bought a
bridge, copper foil, and some misc. hardware. It took about 3 days from
order to delivery. Hope you have better luck.

On a side note. I bought a French Horn mouthpiece off Ebay from Music123.
Turns out they were offering things they didn't even have. I also learned
from research that they do this all the time. It took me about 3 months to
get it. I bitched them out regularly to no end but bit the bullet and waited
because I got it for less than 10% the going price.

I had the same experience with Music123 when I tried to order a choral
mic supposedly in stock. Took me 3 months of the backorder date
changing constantly before I pulled the plug.

You can put a stop payment on the credit card. The one thing they did to me
I order a neck And decided to try a fat back . The next day I decided I did
not want the fat back I called they said there would be a $50 charge to
change the order because it was on the system. there was a six week wait on
the neck anyway.

They shouldn't charge you without shipping it. I don't think it's illegal
but it is sure a bad business practice.
Interesting that I've noticed that most companies will not send the charge
until an item is shipped. Paypal does something similar in that when you
transfer money from your bank account it is taken out of the account one day
but Paypal won't show it until a day or 2 later. Right now I'm in the middle
of a $300 transfer. My bank shows paypal got the money yesterday. I'll be
shocked if it appears in my account today.

lucky you, paypal showed no transactions on my account for the company i
ordered the product i bought through, they got the payment through paypal
and as it was showing as an invaild transaction every time with paypal (to
me), i tried several times. next day my bank rang me thinking someone had
tried to rip me off, they said there were seven transactions and only one
had gone through, paypal still insists not one of them shows on their
records even though i have an electronic receipt from the company using
paypal and also my own bank records ... ebay owns paypal now. it always was
a seller's market. beware, and report any bullshit from them.

I am NOT a very big fan of Prey-Pal. I have to really, REALLY want
something to be forced to use it.

Sadly, the Black Strat book I ordered today was one of them.

I keep my fingers crossed every time I use it.

And the combination of Prey-Pal and Evil-Bay? No friggin' chance :)

I've used Paypal many times, and it always makes me a little nervous.
I've only had one real problem with it, but I still feel burned. A few
years ago I bought a bass amp on Ebay. When it arrived, it had a blown
transformer, and had obviously been shipped that way with the seller's
full knowledge. Both Ebay and Paypal refused to help me resolve the
issue, saying:

"As stated in our User Agreement, PayPal's Buyer Complaint Policy only
applies to the shipment of goods, not to disputes about the attributes
or quality of goods received. Therefore, we cannot reverse this
transaction or issue a refund. We encourage you to continue to work
directly with the seller to amicably resolve this dispute."

'Course, by then the seller had already told me "fuck you" and had
skipped town (I later learned that he was a meth addict, had been using
his friend's father's Ebay account, and then suddenly moved to a Mormon
sect encampment in rural Utah.)

I finally had to resort to disputing the charge on my credit card, and
they went after Paypal. Finally, after dickin' around with paperwork
for 6 months, I sent the amp to Paypal and got final credit on my card
(minus shipping.) So I guess Paypal now owns a broken Trace-Elliot amp.

Well, no it wasn't! I wound up with nothing in the end but hours of
aggrivation, $50 paid in shipping fees, and no amp. The main thing I
got out of the experience is healthier skepticism about Ebay's and
Paypal's implication of safety, and a better idea of how to spot a bad
seller.

You are pretty safe using PayPal. In the event of a dispute they almost
always side with the buyer.

Not illegal, but apparently many credit card issuers have a rule against
it.

"In addition, many credit card issuers have policies against merchants
charging a credit card account before shipment. If you think a merchant
charged your account prematurely, report it to the credit card issuer.
Otherwise, the credit card issuer has no way to know that the merchant is
not complying with its policies."
* w w w .ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/credit/billed.shtm

Of course you have to be sure it is actually a charge against the card and
not just an authorization. Many vendors authorize cards immediately to root
out credit card fraud before they waste time.

I hate that too. I always think when the credit card is debited I'll get it
in a couple of days. My wife bought a book from a guy who had not finised
publishing it. He debited the card and didn't ship for over 6 months. I
think they should pay interest on the money.I used to work as a bookkeeper
and I can tell you from experience that accountants love to hold on to money
as long as they can to get the interest. They put the money in high yielding
accounts. Your $50 may not amount to much but if you mulitply that a couple
of thousand times and it adds up.

I bought a Warmoth strat body about 4 or 5 years ago. I never noticed until
now that the bridge holes are slightly out of alignment pushing the high e
string over too close to the edge of the neck. I can compensate but I'm not
as impressed with Warmoth as I was. The finish is unbelivable but I'd rather
have the body made correctly.

That is unacceptable if the guitar is out of alignment in any way. I
wouldn't want it.

I have a custom handmade electric guitar made by a luthier in Montana and
he is friggin impeccable. He was a draftsman (enginner) in aerodynamics and
now been building guitars for 15+ years. His measurements are uncanny.

I luv my axe. :)
