I guess so, Knopfler is my idol (or as close as you'll get to one). Neck
and Neck put me on to Atkins. I was about 18 when I first heard it, only
been playing for about a year. Never thought I'd listen to that kinda
stuff;-)

Watch his fingers, he's stretching like an Octopus. I have the tab to
Neck and Neck, dunno why I bought it. I haven't looked at it in years
because I got the fright of my life last time I did. He is a hell of a
player, so is MK. Chet had a fantastic sense of melody.

It was indeed! I grew up listening to bluegrass seeing my dad was a
hillbilly from an Appalachian coal-miner family. Well grew up on it until
the Beatles debut :) Anyway I'm no stranger to that speed-roll picking
style and am still humbled by it. I can play a little banjo but not
actually owning one my roll picking isn't that great. I do own a nice
fiddle though. Made in Bavaria around the mid 1800's. Bought it along with
another not so great fiddle for 60 bucks. I've been offered 3 grand for it
by the person who re-haired my bow.
