Taylor Big Baby

It must be Friday 'cause I got GAS! There's a used Taylor Big Baby
for sale locally. The guy wants $250 for it. Any qualified opinions
on this guitar?

The Big Baby is a very good sounding guitar. $250 seems very reasonable
for one - retail is $450.

Play it first. I'm a big fan of Taylor acoustics in general, but hate
the Baby Taylor.

If you buy it then I recommend you replace the nut and saddle. Tusq isnt
worth a damn for making tone.

I like the little Martins better based on the ones I've tried.

Yep, they don't have that hollow-boxy tinny sound of Baby Taylors. But I wish
they were a tad brighter.

Oh, this thread is about Big Babys. Never tried one. I do wish somebody made a
small-body 12-string. Think I'll start another thread...

Not I.

Ayer maker a very nice 22 1/2" scale model, sounds better to me than either
the LXM or the BT.

Maton do, with their good pickup/preamp system

Yes, very pricey. Not in the knockaround Baby Taylor-Martin category.

Tacoma made a 12-string Papoose, but based on how poorly the necks of their
6-strings (which I have) were shaped and constructed I doubt they'd be much fun
to play.

Big Baby is a 15/16th size guitar. Only thing I didn't like about them was
the phillips screws on the fretboard holding the neck in place. But unless
you're playing your acoustic above the 14th fret, shouldn't be an issue.

I opted for the Taylor 310 CE. Something about an acoustic made of all
solid woods over a laminated one.

Nice guitar though, and $250 is a decent price.
