I agree. Recently rented Down By Law again, and enjoyed it thoroughly.

I think that was also Roberto Begnini's first American movie, and he is of
course no slouch.

Many years ago I was in Athens, Georgia, hanging around with a close
friend's partner while she was studying for Bar exams, hitting all the
5-cent draft places. After we'd spent maybe a couple of dollars (it was
after all American beer, not Canadian), I had to find somewhere that sold
food, not just beer, and the only place in town serving food was a bar that
had as its entertainer - Tom Waits. What a great end to the evening.

I used to go to a nickel beer night on the Admiral in St. Louis - one
night the band's singer decided she'd buy a round for the house...I
think the total came to a $3.50 or something like that. So they did
another tune and the drummer ponied up for a round too...
