Polish

I have an Ozark steel resonator guitar, nickel plated.
It's been in the case for a while and the body has gone a bit manky -
it needs a good clean & polish.

Anyone recommend a decent metal polish to bring back it's shine?

Thanks

Matthew

Re: Polish

Umm, sorry, I thought this post was about Polish guitar players. :-)

Seriously, wouldn't a polishing paste designed for nickle plated
silverware work just fine?

I would head down to my local Wally World and check out silverware
polish first. Good luck

I don't polish mine very often, because it just wears off the plating and I
prefer the "used" look. I clean it with kitchen wet wipes to remove the
grunge.

If you want to polish it, any polish recommended for nickel will do. I use
one called "Reflection" that I get from an industrial hardware store, it is
a bit heavier duty than "Silvo", the main supermarket brand here in Oz.

I've been to see a guy who restores antique furniture and knick-knacks
- he's a bit of an expert it this kind of thing, and has advised me to
simply clean the guitar body with methylated spirits, as the nickel is
a finish in it's own right and does not really need a polish or wax on
it.

I will try it out, and let you all know.

thanks

Matthew
