Thanks Tony Done

Finally got my Supro back from the shop.

http :// www .safaricabs,com /P5170001.jpg

After paying $337 for it on eBay (inc shipping), it still needed new:

tuner buttons $30
capacitor $2
cable $15.25
strings $10.50 (X2)
rewind treble side pu $164.54

total repairs of $241 (difference is labor)

Grand total: $578 (inc eBay)

It works good now. It did hiccup a bit but now it's fine. (I'm not sure if
it was the cable not connecting but it hasn't done it again) The tone is
phenomenal. I was going to post a clip but I soon realized I can't play it
worth a darn and I have a rehearsal on Sunday. That's going to be
embarrassing. I've got it tuned to open A but I'm thinking about trying
C6th. If anyone with experience that wants to help point me in the right
direction I'd be very grateful.

The guy who fixed it (Walter Hutcherson) did a good job but he didn't know
how to string a guitar. The first thing I had to do was restring it (I was
able to salvage the strings he put on it fortunately). I also had to WD40
the tuning machines and re-oil them. Walter wouldn't do too much to it
because he wanted to keep it in original condition as much as possible.
Personally, I wish he would of replaced the tuners but they hold tune very
well. Just the "D" string tuner is a bit tight still.

The person who rewound the pu (Tonecraft Amp Repair) said the bobbin is made
of card board. They had to reconstruct the bobbin and strengthen it with
superglue so it would be strong enough to wind!

Anyway, I love it and it is now a part of the family. :-)

Thanks again Tony for your help!!

<g> I love happy endings. The pickup and cover look identical to the ones on
my National Chicagoan. The price of these seems to be going up, as folks
realise how good they are.
