Hi Dan,
Something that helps me tons is a big book of schematics. You dont
actually need to buy a book for that since places like schematicheaven
have almost everything you need. If you DO want a book the Aspen
Pittman Tube Amp Book has a good cross section of different
manufacturers. Some people question the tech articles in his book but
I havent read the latest one so I cant say. I have a couple of the
older editions and keep on on my bench and one by my bed.
(as a side note there is a guy in beaconsfield who has some nice
little books out there. You can get them on eBay. He has a theory book
that was interesting and 3 others that are will walk you through
everything from a champ to a twin reverb (eg. here is how to cut your
chassis, drill this size hole here, here are the list of resistors you
will need etc ). The only warning with those books are A) get some
basic electronics knowledge first B) learn amp SAFE PRACTICES before
you even think of opening an amp 3) the amp building books dont go too
too deep in theory (that is why he has a theory book)
