Tube Depot reputable?

Reply from: Picasso
Date: 06 May, 01:11
Just about to order some Tung Sol 12ax7 New Production's from the Tube
Depot... are these guys reputable?

I Was going to order from Musiciansfriend who i have ordered from
before, but shipping is $34 to Canada (Fedex), its far less than this at
Tube Depot (USPS which i have had good luck with)

Also, is this extra $2 for "High Gain" a scam or what?

* w w w .tubedepot . com /ts-12ax7.html
Is what i was looking at...

Three of them going in a marshall JTM30... i'm leaving the 6l6gc rca
blackplates in for now, i may take them out to store them for awhile and
experiment with something else, but for now they're staying in.

Thanks again.

There is always Lord Valve is you don't mind his politics. If you call him
for tubes or parts, he's all business unless you say otherwise.

Over at Amp Garage, they seem very high on Terry Kilgore a/k/a The Sarge
tkilgore@tubetramp . com

I expect either one of these guys will fix you up, no extra charge for
personal service. Shipping to Canukastan is $34. I expect shipping to
Canada will be considerably less.

Psssssst.....I've got some high gain tubes; wanna see 'em? Special price
for you.

Yeah, I like the way those tubes have a smegma coating
on them and a hateful fascist vibe to them which is perfect
for death and destruction metal music of today, Fuck peace,
love and understanding! Not only that they make a really
smackeroo light show when they malfunction.

Hey Ed,
I've beem meaning to say "thanks" for mentioning the Sold-a-pult. I got one
on eBay dirt cheap and it turned out to be one of the higher end models. I
was taking apart a derelict amp tonight and it works like charm. I was in
the dark ages with the other one I've got. No comparison. Doesn't seem to
be coated with anything, either.

But you could have easily ordered one of these but you
would have had to add to the order to make sure it
amounts to the $25 minimum order. However, Mouser
sells them too.

That looks like a thumb-cocker, not a hip-banger-cocker...
can you just mash it against something to cock it, or does
it take a finger? I wouldn't want to have to change my
ass-technique for a different desolderer... like doing the
bump.

Thumb required, maybe the edge of your work bench. Not what you've got.
Everything is relative. I was using a really crappy solder sucker. I had
no idea there was a kind that actuall *sucks* this hard. The vac effect on
it is awesome. Given my amateur standing, this is really quite a satisfying
find and the price was right.
