Blackheart!

Blackheart!

Posted this a couple of days ago on a guitar group and *meant* to post
it here, too.

Oh well....here it is.

Thought I'd share some recent observations, for anyone who might be
interested...

I recently bought one of those little Blackheart heads & accompanying 1
x 12 cab. I'd been meaning to try the cab out with some other amp heads

I have, but only recently had time to do so.

These cabs have an Eminence/Blackheart 12" speaker, capable of handling
75 watts (according to the literature).

So far, I've tried my Soldano Atomc 16 head and one of my little mini
Marshall heads (solid state 15 watt) through the Blackheart cab.

All I can say is WOW!!!!!

Both amps sound really good through that little cab. What's more, the
speaker is so effiecient, that even the little 15 watt Marshall was loud

enough for practice! Unreal!

Tonally, it cab seems to be well balanced, with no mid or treble peaks.
There's lots of low end, making for pretty punchy tones.

Frankly, I'm stunned by how good this cheap little cab sounds! For the
money, I don't see how you could beat it! I don't recall exactly how
much they are, but these cabs sell for only around $125--$150...but
sound as if they cost twice as much.

If anyone's looking for a cheap speaker cab that actually sounds good,
I'd suggest checking one of these things out. It might work for
you...and save you some cash.

Of course...the downside of all this...I've realized the Blackheart amp
is not as loud as I'd originally thought. The speaker seems to be
helping out quite a lot in that area. Running the head into a couple of

other cabs... . it 's not nearly as loud.

oh well....(grin)

Mike

You gotta remember Mike...the little Blackheart head is only 5 watts (or 3,
depending on how you set the pentode/triode switch). If you want a little
more "beef", check out their 15 watt head. (The Handsome Devil)

* blackheartamps . com /bh15h.html

...or if you REALLY want to annoy the neighbors (and the drummer, bass
player, sound guy..etc.) Check out the Hothead

* blackheartamps . com /bh100h.html

You can even get some mod kits that will allow you to rewire them point to
point (at least with the smaller ones, no telling about the big one.)

Have fun kids...

Steve

Get yourself an amp stand or put the cab on a chair or table. Find a way to
point it to your ears and that amp will be plenty loud enough. I have an Epi
vj and i only turn it to about 10:00 at band practice with two other
guitars, bass and drums.

Same tone comments when running the Soldano?

What about hum level of the head? I've read complaints.

That tells me that the Eminence is fairly high on the sensitivity scale. Good
for 5W, bad for more watts (for many guys, at least).
