Marshall: How much I hate thee, let me count the ways

Just turned down a chance for a 1976 Marshall JMP head in great shape for
$250.00. I should have bought it to use as a paperweight but that's a damn
expensive paperweight! Yeah I coulda bought it and flipped it to buy good
gear but I'm superstitious of even touching a Marshall head. Gives me the
willies..

:-P

Jeez, man... wave a few chicken bones at it. Take it to the
curandera. Use moxibustion on it! Don't shoot yerself in
the foot...

LOL yeah I know.. I dunno what it is but I just can't stomach any amps with
that evil "Marshall" logo. I'd rather drop a Fender Twin on my bare toes for
an hour straight than play through a Marshall for 1 second. One of those
things I guess.

A Tweed 50's Fender Bassman with EL-34's is a Marshall.

Drive Marshall fans nuts with 6L6's in the JMP with a Fender logo on the front.

Use any Pre-C speaker cab modified to open back, and let the fun begin.

Remember, Marshall was the first amp cloner.

And,.... like ALL cloners, outside of making clones, they can't fly a kite on their own.

Too bad Fender's products are only a shadow of it's past greatness today due to the corporate "life
style" idiots who run the operation.

It staggers me to think, even they go for the gold found in marketing Polished Turds.

Uh, didn't Fender get their designs originally from Western Electric or
someone?

Well, the 2204 and 2203 seem to have been pretty successful for a
non-cloned amp made by cloners, as have almost every valve amp they've
ever made.

Forget that. Koerner appears to have a religious thing going about
this. And the fact that what you point out was overlooked says allot.

Ibanez started making clones, but later made
some nice original guitars.

Music is a lifestyle business. This is worth getting over. All those
fine Leo designs were based on first a supply of Army surplus parts,
the clones of those, then clones of the clones.

We don't all hunt our own buffalo anymore, either. But my piano
teacher's Dad has a herd of 'em on his ranch....

I keep telling my kids - computers should be huge, expensive to
buy, *prohibitively* expensive to operate, should generate
massive quantities of heat and consume obscene amounts of power.

But do they listen? No..... and now my guitar amp is a computer.

I like it. Yes I do. 24 lbs....

Yep the first marshalls were clones of fenders alright. Thank god they
kicked it up a notch.

Yeah like a JMP sucks. Funny.

No, he needs to meet the right Marshall. I'd imagine
if he could play mine, he'd see it differently. Ask
Elvie... it's his favorite one. However, no reverb
ever hatched on a Marshall was worth a damn, I'll
give you that.

Reverb is only right on a Fender .. It's an
American thang.

Agree that reverb on a M never sounded right.
Those islanders need to stick to a straight
copy of RCA book and Mini's that leak oil.

Ah, the Vincent Black Shadow... the only bike that
