Seriously Old School!

Here's how it was done, back in the day - an informational
film from Philips-Mullard on the manufacture of "radio
valves," starting with raw materials and progressing through
drawing wire, glass tube making, pins, grids, anodes, cathodes,
getters, assembly, evacuation, testing, etc. In three parts, just
shy of a half hour total. If you ever wanted to see it done, here's
your chance:

PART 1: http :// www .youtube,com /watch?v=VV7cimRWah0&NR=1

PART 2: http :// www .youtube,com /watch?v=OgycwCeUwp8&NR=1

Dude is Claude Paillard, F2FO (ham operator)... his video
is very cool:

http :// paillard.claude,fr ee,fr /
http :// www .dailymotion,com /video/x3wrzo_fabrication-dune-lampe-triode_tech

Here's another, done by dudes at the Philips factory in
Eindhoven, the Netherlands:

These guys have an entire factory to play with, so Claude's
accomplishment seems all the more wonderful. Some
serious DIY going on!
