Also, hadn't they in fact just killed three people in a shooting
incident? Who cares if the Police did the Rodney King stomp on them.
At least one of the officers involved was black anyway, so it's hardly a
racist incident.

I preferred it when our Police acted like fascists. At least something
got done. Nowadays, with all the politically correct groupthink spewed

There's this "innocent until proven guilty" principle to which we try
to adhere. I know it sounds quaint, but it's actually an essential
part of our justice system.

Why do I post here? Sometimes I ask myself the same question.
I got into this board, probably back when I first started shopping for
the '67 bassman that I play with my roots rock band. We gigged pretty
regularly then, but hardly ever now. Music's on a waaay back burner while I
work on some other stuff, unfortunately. I've built a couple of guitars,
and started a couple more, but I'm no amp tech, so this ng is a good source
of info about speakers, mods (which I've never used), basic newbie info.
But I've gotten sucked into the political stuff, and that's by far the
bulk of my posts here. I just sometimes see things here that are so
incredibly un-critical or misguided that I have to shine a light on it. And
honestly, it can be educational. I work at a university in a very blue city
in a blue state. My gun collecting, W-supporting base playa is the closest
thing I have to a conservative friend, and my southern family members rarely
talk politics - to their credit. It's easy to forget that the kinds of
views expressed here are actually held by some people in our country. And
while most of the stuff I respond to is incredibly stupid and mean spirited,
some of it gives me some perspective on an American viewpoint that I'd never
understand otherwise. And occassionally there are who have really
well-thought-out opinions and can express them without being assholes. It's
educational. I don't believe that all perspectives are equally valid, but I
don't believe you can make that judgement until you've actually tried to see
from that perspective.
Anyway, I don't pretend to believe that my arguments change anyone's
mind, but I sometimes just feel compelled to make them regardless.

Thanks podnah - cool tunes. But when I think of roots rock,
I'm thinking more southern flavored stuff, but I guess roots
rock encompasses all sorts of varations. I sort of expected
the style of those cats who did their laid back version
of "Dead Flowers" at the end of the "Big Lebowski" from
yankee cats like you. (No offense or insult intended).

Check out myspace friends' music: the "subdudes" and "Gary Hirstius". These
guys are *definitely* roots rockers.
