See the visual mod on the ascii guitar player then, b or # that 5th or 9 ;-)

Why, as long as we're fiddle farting around here in the key of C...did
you know that rather than play a G7b5b9 it's simpler to just substitute
a Db7? Don't tell any hay8rz you got that from me or they'll blow a
'rhoid and simultaneously erase the 7 times table from the next snack
their brain parasites were ready to feed bag on!

yeah, or Bmb5b9 would work

Tritone substitution is what that's called, FYI. Jazz reharmonization 101.

You forget..Mules can't read..nor play guitar...but somehow this one
has evolved from ape molester to cut and paste artist...with practice,
it might get the idea that his shit is boring and no one wants to read
it. And if they did, they would likely just go to the real site and
skip professor Muley..

Actually, the essential characteristic of that chord (G7b5b9) is the tension
created between the root and the minor ninth, which would *not* be present if a
Db7 is subbed.

While in many cases roots (and fifths) are considered
superfluous, this isn't one of them. Bad sub.

Okay, I will bite. Once!

A minor is not G major, you doofus. A minor corresponds to C major. G
major corresponds to E minor.

You spamming twit, this is neither A minor pentatonic, nor E minor
pentatonic (doesn't even have the E note). You are not consistently
using the same minor pentatonic scale across both octaves.

That E, incidentally, is needed because it is the fifth above the A.
Or perhaps you don't think that the minor pentatonic has a fifth?

The blues scale, if there is such a thing, is a combination of three
ingredients: a superimposed minor and major pentatonic scale, plus the
tritone.

The Box 1 A minor pentatonic (with tritones added) looks like this:

V
|-R-|---|---|-*-|
|-*-|---|---|-*-|
|-*-|---|-*-|-T-|
|-*-|---|-R-|---|
|-*-|-T-|-*-|---|
|-R-|---|---|-*-|

Roots (A) shown as R, tritone (Eb) shown as T.

Also, your numbers are redundant because they just indicate the fret
position. This is a wasteful notation. A single symbol, like the roman
numeral V, can establish the box's position on the fretboard.

"communicative conventions" LOL

Are "communicative conventions" what you use when you're trying to
bullshit people into believing you know something when you really
don't have a clue?

Hey, don't argue with Narc.

If there's anything wrong with what he posted, I
can fairly well guarantee you it's not his fault.
You'll have to figure out who he stole it from and
jump in *their* shit; if you've ever heard Narc "play"
the guitar (over a track he stole from somewhere)
you'd realize that this asshole can't tell a B-flat
from a fucking ashtray.

Re: The "Big 5" :-)

The Blues Box (A minor Penta) 1 as shown, overlaps / fits w/in the A
Dorian Modal pattern. If you (tradmill) go back toward the nut to Box 5,
you're squarely w/in in the Gb Locrian "Form", which itself,
'treadmills' forward into the G Major or Ionian mode. Then, comes
A Dorian, B Phrygian, C Lydian, D Mixolydian, E Aolian*, Gb Locrian

THE RELATIVE MINOR you're twitching about, -bitch :-) mvm
