Huh, never seen it spelled that way, pein or peen depending on which side of
the Atlantic one is on, but not pane. Must be a Belgian thing.

Actually, a ball pane hammer is for causing pane in balls. (Try it and see.)

A ball *pein* hammer is what you're talking about. At least,
it is if you're speaking American. ;-)

Since we're being picky, the more "correct" spelling is ball-peen
hammer.

The Stanley Corp spells it "pein." There is no "more correct"
spelling, both are in equal use. In your case, however:

Too funny - they spelled it incorrectly. How many times have you
found errors in "big companies" or "experts". I think you've actually
reported on a few here.

My dad was a machinist so I know something about ball-peen hammers.
It's spelled ball-peen because it's used in a process called "peening"
which is spelled "peening"not "peining". Look it up.

I'm a Polack, and I come from a *race* of machinists.

Both forms are acceptable. See

FWIW, I thought it sounded nice. The drums didn't
jump out & scream "phony!", maybe because there
was enough other stuff going on.
