And what do you suppose the numbers were *before* they started keeping
track? You suppose those old country doctors didn't make mistakes and
inadvertently kill patients?

Stick to music Rich. You're way off base here.

You'll find out the day it happens to you, or yours.

It happens more than you know.

I have two friends in the field, and their horror stories would make your head spin.

Don't ever get sick enough to have to go to the hospital.

I agree with that. What I'm saying is that the same thing was true
(only maybe worse!) 50 and 100 years ago.

Okay Rich, I call. Document that lower standards in med school to
accomodate minorities is resposible for higher death rates from medical
mistakes.

How long do you think you'll need, a month or two? BTW, websites from the
unintentional-comedy fringes don't count.

DGDevin, you can call anyone you want in the medical field where the minorities are the majority,
and ask how many medical mistakes have happened that have been covered up *each* day.

I've been mis-diagnosed twice, and mis-prescribed three times in the last four years.

Those are personally experienced medical mistakes by doctors I had no choice over. Not, my
imagination.

As it is in medical and musical practice, there is too much focus on the technology and the play by
the numbers approach.

With the drug companies marketing their silver bullets on the TV, you swallow the snake oil as the
pills slide down.

So, the drugs fix twitching legs, while the drug threatens your other body parts.

Terrific.

When it comes to saving your life, you want the best.

When it comes to defending you in court, you want the best.

When it comes to an education, you want the best.

When it comes to taking a flight, you want the best at the controls.

When it comes to your protection against the criminal, you want the best police coming to your
rescue.

Yeah, we all want the best.

But, in any field,.... by lowering standards you do not get the best.

When it comes to my work, I hold myself to my own self-imposed higher standards.

I want someone dedicated to their craft, not some money driven *life style* living wanna be with
lowered standards.

Now, go debate that with your lefty bent with someone else.

BTW, do you go about what you do every day being the best you can be, or are you just a hack
floating through life?

Break's over. I'm back to work.

Had my arm filled with dye during an IVP once...
white person was the tech. I've noticed no
difference... both can suck, believe me... and
when your tech is most often a 'person of
color', then you'll have more mistakes by them,
no way around that.

It's not the race thing... it's the education and
experience thing. We need more nurses and
techs... good ones don't command a premium
like they should. Caveat Emptor, shop around,
always the rule.

So you found a bunch of articles that seem to show that a lot of
people die at the hands of doctors. Did you actually read any of
them? Did any of them verify that standards for acceptance to medical
school were lowered and that there is a causative link between this
and medical malpractice?

You want the answers?

Here, let me help.

Get a doctor who has been in practice for 20 years or more to pose as a student getting in to med
school to contact his/her old med school to ask for the current standards for acceptance.

Likewise, talk to any of the nurses or doctors who practice in a hospital where the majority is the
minority, what the deal is.

It's about the lowering of standards for an equal playing field. It started with the grammar
schools, and has gone all the way up to the schools of higher learning.

There are some places where social engineering and politics should never intrude.

The school system in my town sucks because of it.

Go for it.

You're the one who made the claims, don't ask me to prove them for
you. If you have evidence that this has happened, bring it on.

There was no legislation... nobody got kicked out.

"
The individual statements attributed to Australian government officials
included in the e-mail reproduced at the head of this page are thus
essentially accurate, but the selectively-quoted excerpts of controversial
material from different news stories create the misleading overall
impression that Australia enacted a formal policy to force some Muslim
groups out of the country. The statements quoted were part of the public
debate over an issue that flared briefly in the immediate aftermath of the
London Tube bombings, then quietly subsided.
"

Hard to CnP from Snopes... you have to View Source to do it. PITA.

Ahhh. Nice dodge-and-change-the-subject move there. There are few surer
signs that a guy's been talking out his ass. I'll just toss that
"information" about minorities and med school standards into the "stuff Rich
made up" pile.

You could teach a hell of a lot about luthiery, but key-riste you make some
foolish assumptions about politics.
