Backing tracks?

Backing tracks?

Does anyone know a source of backing tracks for popular songs?

I found this one:
* w w w .guitarbackingtrack . com

But the tracks are MIDI. They're okay, and better than nothing.
But I was wondering if anyone sells "real" tracks.

Just go to the record store and shoplift
the Music Minus One and Jamie Abersold
recordings. They've made all the money
they need. It's ok for you to take them.

Play back of MIDI is obviously dependent on your sound module...if
your using some generic GM or some freeware software module, then it
is going to sound like crap, but if you get yourself a good quality
polyphonic (multi-timbral) outboard stereo sound module to hook up to
your MIDI playback unit, you will be blown away by how real those
track can sound. You can get a used Edirol SD-80 for under $600 (USB
connection to your computer means you can edit the synth part via
software...though, there are better by many makers such as Yamaha,
MOTU, E-MU, UA, Alesis and DBX amongst others...though many of these
hit closer to $1K new, on a more affordable note, a used Roland U220
can be had for as little as $150USD...make that piano roll come to
life with samples of actual instrument rather than FM synthesis.

You musta missed this:

"This page contains free guitar backing tracks (BTs) for popular songs
as well as jam tracks. The backing tracks can be played in flash format
onsite or downloaded in MP3 format."

They didn't sound like midi to me.

Re: Backing tracks?

I construct them on band in a box. Easy way to go. You can change
keys, tempo, style, etc.

Burn to disc if you like.

Get Band in a Box and it's really easy to make your own.

Re: Backing tracks?

Can't you just go from mic out to amp,
if you have an amp that has cd in?

Re: Backing tracks?

Meant to write the headphone jack or soundcard ouput to cd in on amp.
