Technique question

I'm working on the intro to Sweet Child O Mine.

On the second riff, where the first note is an E, and you have to move
your ring finger back and forth between the 14th frets of strings 3
and 4, how do you keep the string from sticking and playing a pull-off
as you move between the notes?

Mitch,

I've never had a string stick to my fingers. If you have this problem
then everytime you take a finger off you'll experience it, so I can't
imagine it happening.
Obviously your hands should be fairly clean when you play the guitar.
They make spray products that make the strings and fret board slippery,
perhaps those would help you if washing your hands doesn't work.

It happened to me when I started. My callous had grooves. At their worse,
they would even bleed. It was very cool as you can imagine.

I hope they bled during a performance.
It would be a shame to have your fingers
bleed and nobody saw it to say "Dude! He's
so fast his fingers are bleeding!"

Back in my teens (oh, so, so long ago) I was playing a gig and one of my
strings broke. It sliced into my right pinky really good, and by the
time the song was finished, there was blood all over my (white)
pickguard. I managed to change the string pretty quickly and I finished
the rest of the gig without incident.

After the set was over and the band took a break, a couple of chicks
came up to me and said "Wow, that was soooo cool! How'd you do that?"

I often muse about the idea of dumb chicks
hanging with musicians throughout history.
Bach and Wagner and Ogg the rock smasher
surely all had their own groupies.

Maybe Ogg smashed his thumb once
and the chicks said the same thing.

Bleeding fingers is one way to get
a rose-wood fret board.

Snark.

I'm also having problems with bending. When I relese a bend, my
fingers pluck the adjacent strings. Even though my nails are really
short.

I need lessons.

I'm on a waiting list for the only decent teacher in my small town.

Which strings? What part of the finger is catching the strings?

You may need to mute the other strings with your right hand (if
righthanded).

Try barring the 14th fret with your ring finger. No need to move it
then.
