Ouchh--- The level of musicians at the open mic was outstanding.
Mostly a Blues Club, but they gave us 3 songs - All amps were set up
and mic'd and the amp I used had no standby , so you plug in and then
adjust volume - the "Advice" from a tech in the audiance when we set
up on my amp volume was way off - I was overly loud in the mix) &
Vocalist could not hear herself -First was SECR (seeker by the Who)-
we kinda flubbed some changes as we lost communication , not so good.
--- 2nd song While My Guitar Gently Weeps we adjusted and it went over
pretty good and got good applause , it was (I think) a welcome change
from all the 12 bar blues in various key for the night. Comfortably
Numb also came off pretty good, I blew a few lick in my solo - but it
didn't fit the clubs - foot stompin Blues theme that well - but still
got good aplause .. So all in all not that great a night for us, but a
good learning exp and we will push harder than ever now to get better
and tighter.. The change of atmosphere was tough for us to adjust to
( we are use to the same sounding equipment and room all the time) -
so I think we'll try a few practices outside and in differnt
conditions to help us get better at adjusting, and more gigs - just
keep trying . Ed S.
