Buena Vista Social Club - Cachaito Lopez

Got to enjoy the Christmas present off my wife the other night, a ticket to
watch Cuban Jazz stalwarts, the Buena Vista Social Club. I swear there were
three different rhythms going on in one tune - you can dance to it but
counting the 'one' is another matter altogether. Apart from four relative
'youngsters' in the 13 pc line up it was guys old enough to be your grandad
but man, could they play...behind-the-back 12 string mandolin solos
included. Lopez seems to have trouble getting about these days but his
playing was still powerful: those delicious 'flat' fourths and fifths
sprinkled here and there but in tune when he wanted to be. Top notch.

You lucky dude! And by the way you don't find the "1" you find the
"clave"!

Yeah, that's the way I want my geezerhood to end up. Can't walk, but
still can kick ass on my instrument!
