Worth mentioning that those reviews are for the Modified 70s Precision
TB (Telecaster Bass):

... not the Vintage Modified Precision Bass:

I'm just sayin'...

FWIW, I have the Vintage Modified Jazz fretless and think it's great bang-
for-the-buck. It's definitely giggable.

If the Precision is up to the same standard I'd be happy with it.

From what I have read and seen myself, all of the Squier Modified Vintage
basses are REALLY nice for the $. The Fretless and the 70s Jazz basses are
really amazing instruments for the $. Here is what you can do with a
Fretless if you want to have a bit of fun! :-)

Since these photos were taken, I installed 62 Reissue Pups, a early 60s
scalloped Bridge and a 62 Reissue Neck plate. This thing sounds and plays
amazingly. Everyone I show it to at first has no clue where it started and
then just falls on the ground laughing at why anyone would pay Fender
$3500.00 for the Custom shop version. THE only negative is that the Squier
head stocks are smaller than Fender's, so you can't put Vintage tuners on
them. I just picked up a new Fretless Modified body on Ebay for $75.00, so
I'm going to put an All Parts Fretless neck on it and see how this one will
look! :-)

Rob,

Your bass looks amazing, but how much time and effort and parts did you put
into this effort. No offense but don't you think that Fender Custom Shop
does the same thing? They take a production bass and tweak it.

It would take years to get the one I bought the other day to look like that!
;-)

Did you change the neck? In other words, how did you change the logo on the
headstock?

Well, FWIW, I briefly played and listened to one like the one in your
link (not another variant <g>) and it's "different"-- not the usual
Fender sound, but certainly not a wasted test drive by any means.
Hmmm-- struck me as belonging to the old Gibson "mudbucker" (EBO,
etc.) family IRT to sound, but much smoother, not farty. A real
favorable impression, just to pick a few notes, and kinda surprising
for one who was/is not a fan of the old Fender 'bucker bass PUPs.
Didn't play it in a band situation but it might really work well.
Round, fat but not farty, smooth and seemed to have a nice balance
from lowest notes on up. Also favorable on the construction and
appearance fronts, again just from a quick look. --D-y
