i'm buzzin

i put the compressor in the effects loop and when the compressor is
engaed i have a loud buzz - even when amp is on mute.
the compressor is plugged into the same power strip as the amp.
swapped cables and tried the other channel.
it worked find thru effects loop with my peavey 112.
clues anyone?

you're compressing your own ground loop.
