Fralins for Marcus Miller sound?

Reply from: Lasse Winther Wehner

A local guy currently has a set of stock wound Lindy Fralin Jazz Bass
pickups for sale.

I consider buying those for my Marcus Miller style Jazz (1974 ash/maple
Fender) as it has a fairly weak output and though it sounds good, it can be
a bit thin sounding at times.

Thing is, I have this bass because of its Marcus Miller-like slap tone and I
was wondering if the Lindy Fralins would facilitate that type of sound, or
if I would be better off sticking with the stock pickups and buying a
Sadowsky preamp (actually I am currently shopping for a Sadowsky preamp
anyway, so it may not have to be either or).

Any input would be appreciated :)

/Lasse

Keep your current pickups and start with the preamp. Then change the
pickups if necessary

Lasse:

I know this is Usenet and all, but in this case, I'd listen to that
guy.
