bizarre gig (longish)

----OK, several months ago,we get a request for a corporate gig in
Atlanta in our band email.
We're a weekend warrior classic rock band in Miami, 500 or so miles away.
Jokingly, (we think it's an error, after all) we reply we'll do it for
$3K, but if they can provide airfare, accommodations, backline,
lighting, and pa, we'll be able to do it for considerably less.
Lo and behold, this month, Atlanta calls and wants a contract.
Since there's a band in the Atlanta area with the same name, we
accepted, but asked if they were sure they didn't want the Atlanta band.
Nope, we're aware you're from FL, they say, get a contract ready for us....
I'm still thinking it's some kind of joke.
The only thing we can think of is that we played Race Weekend (NASCAR)
here (Homestead, about 30 miles south of Miami), and somebody visiting
liked the band.
I guess we'll see, if and when the deposit check clears.

You should have done for 3K + the comps. That's NOTHING to these guys, and
pretty typical for those gigs. Just spell out EVERYTHING in your contract
and be ready to say "how high?" when they tell you to jump.

-----So I hear. The thing is, we thought they erred by contacting us,
since we're not pro's, this is just a hobby for us, and we pretty much
have trouble squeezing $100 a man from the cheap ass local bar managers....

---Thanks. It's not a sure thing anyway, the guitarist doesn't know if
he wants to take off his day job for it.

also - somebody here had a good contract drawn up for just this sort of
thing - might have been Brian Running perhaps? You might want to check it
out.
