Wanted Carvin BX600 opinions

Anyone own / familiar with this bass head? Especially interested in how
much noise might be in the DI. Actually, any comments at all would be
welcome. Thanks

Re: Wanted Carvin BX600 opinions

I don't own one but am a big Carvin fan and have owned their bass rigs in
the past. I was in Hollywood a couple of weeks ago and had a scant few extra
minutes. I took a quick look at the instruments in the factory store there
(actually curious about color options. I want to order a bass)
A guy was playing a 5 string fretless through one of the BR610 combo's. I
nearly broke my neck turning around. It had one of the sweetest fretless
tones I have ever heard, Muuwaaahhh to die for. This was minutes after me
buying a MarkBass combo across the street at GC.
I was very close to taking back the Markbass and getting the Carvin. But
then I remember why I really bought the Markbass and that was the super
lightweight. The Carvin is still too heavy for someone like me with a very
bad back.
It's not like I'm unhappy with the MB but I've yet to get the particular
tone from it that I heard from the Carvin.
I only heard the fretless and was pressed for time so I didn't try it
myself. But I think if you are considering the line you will be happy.

Thx. Actually one of my basses IS a Carvin, and one of my small combo
amps is too. Overall I'm happy with them, thus my interest in the BX600
head. I especially want to record off the DI and want to know how noisy
it might be. It's also nice to stick with an American made product.
Anyone out there play / own the BX600 ?????

There appear to be very little review info on the Net on the BX600. Help!

Re: Wanted Carvin BX600 opinions

I had the ProBass 500 some years ago. We recorded in a pro studio and I went
direct. That head was dead quiet. I don't see any reason the new ones would
be any different. '
