OT - For Bill O'Reilly fans

A Bill O'Reilly out-take from a few years back. This is a hoot. A
couple f-bombs.

Aye, a serious, responsible journalist is he. Keith Olbermann called
him "the Frank Burns of TV news." Perfect!

Keith was wrong. Frank Burns was an idiot. O'Lielly is evil. Big
difference. Have you read any of the Al Franken books? Worth the time.

Re: OT - For Bill O'Reilly fans

Nah, he's not evil. Neither is FAUX. Their MO is playing to the lowest
common denominator to pull in the most number of viewers - they're like the
Country Music of "news" channels.

I used to watch O'Reilly back in the day, when FAUX first started. He was
still angry, but rational - and a lot more like Olbermann politically. It
wasn't all this flag waving bullshit either; he actually covered current
events from a, well, fair and balanced perspective.

Then he (or rather FAUX) got on the Clinton Obsession Bandwagon, and it was
downhill from there.

Now I see he's gone the TMZ route, doing nothing but stories on the "wicked"
liberals of Hollywood and having "body language experts" watch clips and
tell if say, Whoopie Goldberg is lying.

Like I said, lowest common denominator...

Coming from the Ralph Furley of TV news (how does a jockstrap-holder qualify
as a serious journalist?) that's especially ironic. I have to wonder if the
source of Olbermann's ongoing Jones for O'Reilly isn't the fact that
O'Reilly has three times the audience. Odd how Olbermann discovered how
wicked Fox was only after they stopped writing him paychecks....

You couldn't pay me to watch to either of these mutts, enough with the
spin-doctors already. I like my news straight up, I don't need it filtered
and packaged by an advocate of either wing. Infotainment does not equate to
journalism.

It doesn't matter who said it, on what motives, or with what
credentials, it's dead-on and funny.

Yeah, but by the time I saw this thread, it had already been removed...

I was hoping that clip would stay up. It was basically O'Reilly
having a tantrum while he was taping Inside Edition. The teleprompter
showed something that was confusing and he started cursing. A real
brat.

Shocking, you'd sure never see a left-wing placard-waver doing anything like
that.

Say, did you see Alec Baldwin on 60 Minutes last night? He got a little
steamed with Morely Safer over being asked in what he thought was a
judgemental fashion about that episode were he chewed out his young daughter
in an answering-machine message. Totally different of course, when a
right-winger loses his cool it's because he's a brat, when a left-winger
does it he's just being human.

Not at all. Baldwin is a brat, too.

Nobody has said anything about left-wing/right-wing. Please don't start
that, we all know where that goes. Bill O'Reilly is a sleazy,
bottom-feeding scumbag, and he would be if he were a left-winger, too.
Take a deep breath, smile, it's all in good fun! The clip is funny! :-)

Nobody needed to, it remains that a right-wing jerk was offered up for our
collective ridicule and we probably wouldn't want to hold our breath waiting
for most of the folks in this thread to find a left-wing equivalent, would
we.

> Take a deep breath, smile, it's all in good fun! The clip is funny!

I have no doubt, someone who wants to be taken seriously as O'Reily does is
always amusing when he loses his cool. The only thing I ever read by him
that impressed me was a piece in an airline in-flight magazine. His advice
on picking the right hotel etc. was quite well thought out, made me think he
isn't as dumb as the character he plays on radio and TV, and make no
mistake, he's in the entertainment business just like all the rest of them.

Not only would I note hold my breath, I wouldn't even wait. Why would
I? Why should I care if no left-winger is dragged into this? I don't
care. It was funny, he's a twit, and that's all there is to it. No
political content.

That Atlanta Craigslist guy was the liberal.
The O'Reilly post is to fairly balance that.

If you let guys like O'Reilly or Olberman convince you that everything
in the world has only two sides, all of your thinking will have the
depth of a piece of paper.

As a radical centrist who despises the placard-wavers from both wings I
entirely agree.
