Epifani Cab Durability

For what it's worth, in case anyone was wondering about Epifani cabs,
here's an anecdote for ya...

Friday night, outdoor gig, suddenly, for no apparent reason, the mains
and monitors start making loud, blown-speaker noises every time I'd hit
a loud, low note. No reason was found for it, and it healed itself
after a while, but for a time I was taken entirely out of the PA and had
to fend for myself with only my Epifani 310 and a bridged Peavy CS800S.
I had it wound tight, and was lighting the "DDT" lights on peaks,
meaning I was putting out 1200-Watt peaks. The cones were really
movin', (Excursing? Excurting?) but that cab never once farted out or
made anything other than loud, pure tone. They told me I was plenty
loud out in the audience and sounded good.

The Epifani 310 has been a great investment for me. Sounds good,
relatively compact and light, handles a ton of power and doesn't crap
out when the going gets tough. They are worth the investment.

I have been thinking about a 310.
My 4x10 is breaking my back not to mention my CS800 boat anchor.

Is that a NEO cabinet?
UL1?
UL2?

That's my question too, how do those Neodymium magnets stand up to sustained
high volume? Have they figured out how to keep heat buildup from robbing
volume? As far as the tone goes I've heard nothing but praise.

No, it pre-dates the neodymium cabinets by a few years. I think it's
called a "T-310." When I said "relatively light," I meant in comparison
to 4x10s, mostly -- I think it weighs 65 pounds. It's smaller than a
4x10 or even most 1x15s, too, so it's easy to carry. When carrying
cabs, I think overall size is more of a factor than sheer weight.

Thanks, Rob, that's mighty nice of you to say. What are you doing these
days? We don't hear from you much any more.

And what happened to your ASCII Penguin.

Send me a snail mail address and I can send you a Penguin Books logo nicely done
up as a sticker.

The i-phone/google interface isn't ASCII friendly, so... you only get the
bird via my desktop :-)

Thanks for the sticker offer, but I have plenty of penguin stuff. You just
wouldn't believe it. :-/

well, I got relieved from my important job, so I took a 14 day
vacation to Tampa, then a 7 day Caribbean cruise. Cruise sucked, as
do mustang seats after 3 hours. Good bassist on the boat!!
