Whatsup Frederic.
Just out of curiosity: How do you play those? I've been on the
p-i-m-a-c lately to get all 5 RH fingers going (in all kinds of
combinations), mainly on guitar but also on bass, and I like
playing those octaves 1-3-2, 1-3-2, etc.
I can still do it quicker with 1-1-2 however, but once I get the ring
finger in gear that might change.

The T-1-2 doesn't seem to work for me yet on bass, good on
guitar though, but my T-1 slap is getting better:

Might change to P-I-M-P or M-A-C fingerings to make it funkier :)

For an obscure reason, I can't use my thumb (except for slapping) or my
pinky on the bass. I also play guitar and use all 5 fingers, but on
the bass, it just doesn't feel right.

I play mostly 1-3-2. 1-1-2 is not fast enough for me. I like adding
ghost note with the ring finger once in a while. It can add a lot to
the groove.

I would play that Duran song (or other similar disco line) exactly like you
describe: T-1-2. Must be the leftover technique from the geetar days.

I went back & tried it with every combination suggested. T 1 2 works best
for me.

Just curious, I'm only vaguely familiar with Duran Duran and I don't know
that song at all. I went to Utube and watched a couple of videos. In the
first one I saw the bass player was playing a Rick with his fingers and it
was all done in simple triplets. (and sounded pretty gooe) In the next one
he was playing a different bass (yamaha, Ibanez??) with a pick and a
different pattern in the first half of the song - still a sort of triplet
effect but with a strong accent on the first note. The Rickenbacker style
is very simple as someone else mentioned. I don't think I could do the pick
thing (I never play with a pick).
