Subject: Re: Roccaforte Amps?

World view, ok. But if I'm gonna shell out somewhere around three
grand for an amp, we'd better agree on what it should sound like. Once
that's in place, I understand and fully agree with you. But it boils
down to the fact that I don't think DR and I agree on enough of the
basics. The final deciding factor was that I lost my trust in him,
simply based on his - shall we say overall "PR style"? I saw *major*
headaches up the road in dealing with a man who flat out refused to
respect my sound preferences, and who would turn the argument into an
insult fest. Clearly, the man had nothing that *I* can use, whether
it's an amp or otherwise.

That's when I dropped the idea of buying a Roccaforte amp like a hot
potato and just went for the real deal, a vintage Marshall, for less
than half the cost. Yeah, it's also a bare bones amp. BUT . . .I can
get someone close to me, like Rich Koerner (who I can actually talk
to, BTW, and who shares enough of my viewpoints) to help me make sure
it's up to it's maximum potential. And I know that if I ask him to
put an effects loop, or a master in it (using *existing* holes, guys),
that he'll be more than happy to accommodate me rather than preach the
evils of a reverb, say, and bash and insult everyone who doesn't share
his own little corner with him.

Personally, not being a glutton for that sort of thing, I'll choose
the path of least resistance. The Roccaforte chapter is behind me.
I'm moving on.

Have a great day, and enjoy your amp and your music.
Best regards,
Kent Pearson

Me, too. I'd take a Germino over a that 'cheesy-sounding amp' any day.

And the OPs point is what? That Kent decided not to buy a Roccaforte
because he didn't feel like Doug listened to him about tone? So what?
There are hundreds of way cool amps out there and 'boutique' amps are
just that -they're a specialty item. If one has the sound you want,
then it's a fine amp for you. If you don't like the company or the
tone, or the sales rep or the service rep, then it isn't. End of
story.

But these postings don't qualify as much of a dust up -let alone a
flame war. Hell, Doug had out and out BATTLES with people who swear by
him today. It just doesn't signify much -especially since it has been
yearrs now. I repeat, what's yer point?
I'm still thinking a B52 stack, Mustang Sally, leather pants and a
mullet...

Naw man, that's Fatty. They killed 42 cows to make Fatty's leather pants
so he could jiggle while playing Mustang Sally.
