VF-1 makes a lot of noise when using distortion effect

VF-1 makes a lot of noise when using distortion effect

Hi,

I have a VF-1 BOSS Multieffect. when using it with DISTORTION
effect(amp) it makes a lot of background noise. if I try using the
NOISEGATE it kills most of the noise but also most of of the sound.
Can anyone help me ?.... btw: I am using both IBANEZ PRESTIGE and LES
PAUL CUSTOM guitars which both have great pickup that shouldn't make
that kind of noise....

please do help...
