Zoom MFX - G9 vs. G7

I want to buy my first Zoom MFX but I am stuck between choosing the G9
or the G7 .

1.) I would like to know if the 28 extra effects, the second tube and
3D expression pedal is worth the extra $$$$?

2.) I would really like specifically to know does the second tube
really make a big difference to the overall sound?

3.) I have a Ibanez ARC300DVS going into a Marshall AVT2000 100watt
amp with a 12" Celestion speaker and will the Zoom G7 or G9 compliment
my hybrid amp and overall setup?

I personally use the G2 and have never been happier with a pedal than
with this thing. Although I have had to add a boost pedal because the
sound I get from the Zoom is great but cant seem to get to a point
where I program a patch for boost that makes me happy. I have tried
both pedals that you speak of and am not crazy about the way the
expresion pedal works so I use a Boss PW-10 in my chain also. But go
try em both out and see. Myself I wouldn't be able to justify the
$100.00 price difference just to add more FX that you wont use and a 3-
D pedal, but that's me and I am a self admitted cheap sonofabitch.

As always trust your ears.

While I had to send my G2.1U in for a footswitch replacement, I really
like the sounds I get from it. Every time I go in and tweak (most of
the presets are not good, IMO), I always discover a great sounding
combination. The Drive is pretty hot and I find you really have to
dial it down. Lately, I've been playing with the Mesa dual-rectifier
model but with the gain dialed down to "0" (scale= 1-100). I get a
beautiful combination of crunch/overdrive this way.

I wish it had a "blank" patch where you could just start building from
scratch, instead of deconstructing an existing one.

The noise gate on this thing is phenomenal. Kicks in and lets up
exactly when it's supposed to, perfectly quiet. I also like the
harmonizer.

I've been playing with the G9.2tt for a while now. the first tube is a
nice sounding preamp, and the modelling/effects sound good with it; but I'm
not crazy about the 2nd tube, it's a little too harsh/shrill for my taste.
I like the Digitech sound better, but the Zoom wins on modelling/effects.
(fyi, the tube settings aren't saved with the patches, you have to dial
those in)

I haven't played with the 3d pedal too much, but it seems sturdy and
well-designed.

I don't know if the price difference is worth it, but I like it more than
the XTlive or the GNX.

also, I recommend the Zoom A2.1u, I started using it as a clean
pre-amp/eq/buffer and everything that comes out of it sounds good.
