DI box options

Hi

I'm looking to get a DI box or preamp for connecting my acoustic
guitar (Maton EBG808L with AP5 pickup) to a mixer (currently Mackie
PPM 808S). It sounds good going straight in with some reverb added,
but I think there is still room for improvement.

Some options:
1. bbe acoustimax
2. bbe di 100x
3. lr baggs para acoustic di
4. boss ad3
5. others?

Any suggestions/recommendations welcome.

Johno

I haven't had a need to try it myself, but check Tech 21 SansAmp Para DI
EQ/Instrument preamp/DI.

I use the LR Baggs. Works well, no problems.

The effects loop is a bit tricky with a stereo 1/4 in/out, but other than
that, a fine unit.

Re: DI box options

If you want a good DI, look at Radial.

What are you doing? If you're performing then I don't think the improvement
is noticeable in a noisy room. If you're recording, the combination to try
is a good DI with a good mic preamp to get line level into your recording
box. Some mic preamps also have a DI input. It's also true that starting
with the lr baggs will get you a good source. That's more likely to improve
your sound than changing DI boxes.

It's for gigging. I play in an acoustic duo - me on guitar and a
singer.
